Learn how to hand-carve stamps, and get a basic introduction to letterpress printing with handset type while making your own stationery or greeting cards!

In the first part of the workshop, participants will learn the basics of hand-carving your own rubber stamps, including tools, cutting techniques, and image transfer. There will be sample designs available for you to use, or you can create your own simple designs. Next, get a friendly introduction to letterpress with a typesetting and printing demo. Then, participants will handset a line or two of text using our collection of antique wood and metal typefaces, and print it using our antique platen presses. Lastly, participants will have the option to create envelope liners from decorative papers.

You’ll leave with a limited edition of your unique designs, as well as your stamp that can be used again and again! In addition, this workshop allows participants to return for studio time to use the platen presses.
